Plenty of Golf

Las Vegas is a golfer's dream. There are courses everywhere, to be precise there
are over 40 different locations. If you like to be outdoors and lust for a little green
scenery this is your sport! You can visit an 18 hole course and spend the day or a
9 hole course and sharpen up your skills. There are locations in every area of the
city, suburbs and outer layers of Vegas.
The prices vary depending on location, but you can find great deals now. The
season's will change up the prices as well. I find that the cheapest prices are between
3P and 6P during the summer as it is plenty hot outside. In most cases you can also
receive a discount by booking a Tee time online. The other way of getting a discount
is purely by word of mouth, so just start talking about golf to people and someone will
know someone who can get you a discount or even into a course that you wouldn't
normally be able to get into.
The city is full of equipment too. If you don't have the equipment you need the courses
have clubs you can rent. Most clubs or courses have instructors that will give you some
advise and there are plenty of driving ranges to practice your swings.

It's Happy Hour Again!

THE VELOCE CIBO
12300 LAS VEGAS BLVD
OK ...Now this was a great happy hour! This fine sushi lounge is
located in The M Resort at the far southern end of the strip. You
enter this lounge through a covered hallway that is lined with
wood and pictures of lemon tree's. You take a elevator upstairs
to the entrance where you are greeted by the hostess. There is
seating in a formal dining area and seating in the lounge. I took
the lounge seating with the great views of their pools and the
view of the strip.

The seats were a light saddle leather that matched the leather
trim on the wall's. The tables and flooring were in a dark mahogony
wood. The staff was super attentive and let us know immediately
about the specials! This was great! I chose the $10 sushi for two...
that's right for two! This dish was fantastic! The food was fresh and
I think there was at least 14 or 15 pieces of finely decorated sushi.
Well worth the $10.

The alcohol was good too. There was 1/2 price Martini's and
2 for 1 Mojito's. There was unfortunately no beer on tap, however
they had a good bottle selection to satisfy any beer lover.

Now back to the decor. This place has a open airy feel to
it. There is plenty of outside light and if that isn't enough
you can sit and dine outside on their patio. If it wasn't
109 degrees I would have chosen the deck.

The guests were mature and dressed nicely. I would say
that this will be a regular hangout for locals of the middle
aged persuasion for years to come.

Fallen Boxing Champion

ARTURO GATTI
1972-2009
R.I.P.

Arturo Gatti was found dead in his vacation apartment Saturday
in north eastern Brazil.

The former junior welterweight champion was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found at the scene with blood stains, said Milena Saraiva, a spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state civil police. She told the Associated Press that the Canadian also sustained a head injury.
Arturo's wife Amanda Rodrigues apparently found the champs body and called the authorities.
It is still being investigated as to what and who may have harmed Mr. Gatti.
The 37-year-old Gatti, whose epic trilogy with Micky Ward branded him one of the most exciting fighters of his generation, retired in 2007 with a career record of 40-9 and 31 knockouts.
This may seem strange for this article to be on the LVbuzz but the fight world would not
be the same without Vegas and Vegas would not be the same without the fight world.

In the fight world there are those that fight with an intensity and heart felt performances
that leave the viewer in utter awe and disbelief that a human could have that much desire
to just win......that my friend was Arturo Gatti.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat Mirage Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, NV

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
Mirage Hotel & Casino
Las Vegas, NV

An oasis in the desert! This hidden treasure of exotic creatures is absolutely fantastic!
This habitat is loaded white lions, white tigers, panthers, leopards, Atlantic bottle nose dolphins and our latest additions – an adorable litter of tiger cubs and new baby dolphin! You get to see these magnificent animals up close and personal. This sanctuary was founded by Siegfried & Roy
the Mirage's magicians. Their love for these endangered species made them realize they had to
create a place where these animals could live in peace. This is a great place to spend the day
and relax.

Tears for Fears

TEARS for FEARS

Green Valley Ranch Casino & Hotel
July 18, 2009\8PM

The amazing progressive band of the 80's is back! If you have never listened to
an album by Tears for Fears you are truly missing out. The level of details put
into each song is extraordinary.

Orzabal and Smith met as teenagers in their home city of Bath, England. The duo became session musicians for the band Neon, where they first met future Tears For Fears drummer Manny Elias. Neon also featured Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher who went on to become Naked Eyes. Smith and Orzabal's professional debut came with the band Graduate, a Mod Revival/New Wave act. In 1980, Graduate released an album, Acting My Age, and a single "Elvis Should Play Ska" (referring to Elvis Costello, not Presley). The single just missed the Top 100 in the UK, though it performed well in Spain and in Switzerland.

By 1981, Orzabal and Smith were becoming more influenced by artists such as Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno. They departed from Graduate and formed a band called History of Headaches, a moniker which was then changed to Tears for Fears. The plan was for Orzabal and Smith to form the nucleus of the group and bring in surrounding musicians to help them complete the picture.

Their first single as Tears for Fears, "Suffer the Children" (produced by David Lord), was released on that label in November 1981, followed by the first edition of "Pale Shelter" (produced by Mike Howlett) in March 1982.

Hits include: Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Mad World, Shout, Break It down Again, Sowing The Seeds Of Love and more....

This Weeks Happy Hour

THE YARD HOUSE

6593 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Las Vegas, NV 89119
(702) 734-9273

Well my friends if like a Happy Hour with an endless choice of beers you will love this place! The Yard House is an up scale pub that houses over 150 taps of beer. I lost count of course that was after I tried 15 different beers LOL. The huge walk in keg room must have 300 to 400 kegs chilling at sub-zero tempertures, that about a 1000 gallons waiting to be chugged. The bar is very large housed in the center of the restaurant. Oh yeah I forgot there is food too! I might add that the entree creations are as extensive as the beer list. The impressive selection includes salads, appetizers, pizzas, seafood, steaks, ribs, sandwiches, pastas, chops and much more! The porportions are huge!

Ok back to the beer mmmmmmm! If you are looking for a fun classy atmoshere this is it. The lighting is perfect and the ceiling is artfully decorated with the chrome piping that housess the beer lines going to the bar. There is seating outside and devices that will accomodate all the seasons. The Yard offers Gobblets or acual Yard glasses to drink from, how cool is that! You may want to bring a friend to hold the yard glass LOL.

A Vegas Cornerstone!

THE FLAMINGO

3555 Las Vegas Blvd South
Las Vegas, NV 89109
(702) 733-3111

December 26, 1946 The Flamingo Hotel & Casino was born.

1946, Benjamin Siegel and his New York "partners", along with Frank Costello, invested $1 million to bring this property to life.

Many casino's and hotels have come and gone since 1946, but the Flamingo still stands!

Some of the celebrities to grace the resort over the years include Steve Allen, Paul Anka, Pearl Bailey, Count Basie and his Orchestra, Milton Berle, Pat Boone, Nat King Cole, Bill Cosby, Gary Crosby, Vic Damone, Bobby Darin, Phyllis Diller, Fats Domino, Jimmy Durante, Ella Fitzgerald, Mitzi Gaynor, Betty Grable, Frank Gorshin, Peter Lind Hayes & Mary Healy, Don Ho, Lena Horne, Burl Ives, Eddie Jackson, Spike Jones, Tom Jones, Alan King, Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Joe E. Lewis, Rose Marie, Tony Martin, Jan Murray & Gloria De Haven , Wayne Newton, Juliet Prowse, Joan Rivers, Larry Storch, Della Reese, Kenny Rogers, Darren Romeo,The Supremes, Danny Thomas, Justin Tranz, Dionne Warwick, and Shelley Winters, Judy Garland surprised the patrons during her show by introducing her 11 year old daughter, Liza Minnelli, sitting in the audience. Liza then came up to the stage and sang a duet with her mother the crown was given a lasting memory.

Having stayed here several times over the last 11 years I must say the Flamingo has always delivered! The rooms are extremely reasonable and larger than most you will find on the strip. The windows are huge and if you are on the strip side you can see halfway up the street. The cafe is great too! The Paradise Buffet is loaded with international foods and the Steakhouse46 cooks a mean piece of meat! There are plenty of great acts all year around too!

The pool is world class! This oasis is huge. There are large palms surrounding the water ways and a nice water fall that sounds delightful. This has become a hot spot during the weekends for locals and their guests! The music surrounds the whole pool area and there a Cabana's for rent. The bars are loaded with refreshing Margarita's and Colada's. There is a Beach Side Cafe for a nice lunch as well.

Just take a stroll around this paradise to take in the pool, live Flamingo's, live Penguin's and lush tropical settings and you will agree this is a real cornerstone for Vegas!
